How to create 301 redirect in Magento 2?
If you want to provide proper functionality of your eCommerce store, you will need to create a 301 re-direct. Because it will help your customers and various browsers to avoid “404 error”. Magento 2 permits you to prevent a 404 error with its pre-built tools like 301 redirects.
To implement 301 redirect in your Magento store, please follow below steps:
Go to Admin Panel >> Marketing >> SEO & Search >> URL Rewrites Then press the Add URL Rewrite button
Enter the below URL Rewrite Information- Choose “Custom” in Create URL Rewrite select box.
- Choose the store view you want the URL Rewrite to be added to in the Store field.
- Set the path you want to be redirected in the Request Path field.
- In the Target Path, you correspondingly set the path you want the old one to be redirected to.
- Choose Permanent(301) in the Redirect Type field.
- Enter short information why you add this rewrite in the Description text box (optional).
Once you have finished with the rule configurations don’t forget to save it by pressing the Save button.
